The Los Angeles Warriors can’t catch a break. Sad news has come that the Capital City Rage of Sacramento has folded, hence this week’s scheduled matchup AND a May 19 game between the Warriors and the Rage has been forfeited. This is the second week in a row Los Angeles’ opponent had forfeited, with the Sin City Trojans unable to show last week. With the news, the San Diego Rebellion and Kern County Crusaders also lose a game apiece. Hopefully these teams, along with the inland Empire Ravens and Ventura County Wolfpack who both have fewer than eight games slated, can collaborate to make up for loss of the Rage. That said, I have concerns about Sin City’s continuing viability. Early season forfeits are never a good sign, and and the Trojans’ last post on Facebook was on October 24, 2017. I understand that not all teams can have an online marketing whiz on staff, but if you aren’t promoting your own games to your own audience, how can you expect to survive? Thankfully, by all reports, the Crusaders expect to host the Trojans today.

The Boston Renegades and the Pittsburgh Passion are the mid-season gut-checks each team is looking for. Star quarterback Lisa Horton is expected to be back under center for Pittsburgh. The Passion was notably competitive last season in tilts against Boston and D.C., although a stunning 45-point playoff loss at the hands of the Chicago Force leaves some cause for concern. Boston meanwhile has been without many of their offensive weapons this season, and their offense has generated 21 points per game in 2018, compared to 33 in 2017. Still, they are 2-0 with a come-from-behind victory over D.C. last week. The Renegades offense may look a little different, but they have proven to excel in the clutch.
