Exeter, CA — The Women’s Football Alliance is pleased to announce that the Columbus Vanguards have officially signed on as a full member and will play in the WFA for the 2018 season.  Based in Columbus, Indiana, the Vanguards will compete as members of Division 3 for 2018.

“It’s great to see women’s football teams spreading to smaller market cities providing more women an opportunity to play the sport they love,” said WFA Commissioner Lisa King.

The Vanguards are the first women’s football team to have ever called “Athens on the Prairie” home and ensure that women’s football remains in the Hoosier State for the upcoming season.  They will enjoy building new rivalries against nearby teams such as the Derby City Dynamite and Cincinnati Sizzle.  However, what they will appreciate most about this new opportunity is representing their city both on-and-off the field.  For every sponsor they attract this season, the team will donate an hour of community service to the organization.
