Exeter, CA — The Women’s Football Alliance is pleased to announce that the Grand Rapids Tsunami has officially signed on as a full member and will play in the WFA for the 2018 season.  Based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the Tsunami will compete as members of Division 3 in the Northeast Region for 2018.

“Grand Rapids is home to one of the best smaller D-1 football colleges, the Central Michigan Chippewas of the MAC conference.  It is a huge football town that I’m certain will embrace and support women’s football, ” said WFA Commissioner Lisa King.

The Tsunami are the first women’s football team to represent Grand Rapids and will ensure that women’s football remains in West Michigan for 2018 and beyond.  In addition to in-state rivalries with the Detroit Dark Angels and Flint City Riveters, the Tsunami will enjoy competition from teams such as the Toledo Reign, Columbus (OH) Comets and Columbus (IN) Vanguards, another newly added team to the 2018 WFA season.  As the next wave of West Michigan’s women’s football legacy, look for the Tsunami to be contenders and to bring the area a National Championship!
