Exeter, CA — The Women’s Football Alliance is pleased to announce that the Savannah Hurricanez have officially signed on as a full member and will play in the WFA for the 2018 season. Based in Savannah, Georgia, the Hurricanez will compete in the Southeast Region as members of Division 3 for 2018.
“We are extremely excited to have the WFA back in Savannah and look forward to some great new rivalries in the Southeastern Region,” said WFA Commissioner Lisa King.
The Hurricanez are the first women’s football team to call the Hostess City home since the Savannah Sabers, who played in the WFA for four seasons (2011-2014). They look forward to kicking off the Georgia rivalry with the Atlanta Phoenix as well as some older Savannah women’s football battles such as the Orlando Anarchy, Jacksonville Dixie Blues and Tennessee Train. In addition, they anticipate starting up brand-new rivalries with other D3 Southeast teams such as the South Carolina Smash, Huntsville Tigers, Derby City Dynamite, Music City Mizfits and Knoxville Lightning.
