In Her Own Words:

I played field hockey in college at the University of Louisville where I was a three-time NCAA All-American and Academic All American.

In the summer of 2005, I was named to the U21 USA Field Hockey team and made it my goal to eventually make the Olympic team. I was fortunate enough to be named the Valedictorian of my 2007 graduating class as well as “Most Outstanding Graduate” at the School of Business.Jessica Javelet, Chicago Force, Women's Tackle Football, Women’s Football, Team USA Football, USWNT, USA Women’s Football, Womens Football Alliance, Womens Professional Football, Womens World Games, Women’s Pro Football, Women’s Pro Tackle Football, NFL Women, Women’s Football, Football Women, Womens Tackle Football, Football, WFA football, NFL, pro football, WFA, women’s gridiron, Women’s Football Alliance, NCAA football, women’s sports, Title IX, tackle football, girls tackle football, Women’s World Championships, american football, Massey Ratings, BackseatCoach, Title IX Football, Flag Football

From there, I played on the USA national field hockey team from 2006-2009 and played field hockey professionally in Germany. After returning from Germany –  and not being selected for the USA field hockey national team — I decided to try some rec league with no success because I was really missing the competitiveness of elite sports and couldn’t seem to find a close alternative.

That was when a former USA football player and my water polo teammate at the time, Katrina Walters, suggested I try out for the San Diego Surge women’s football team. Despite never playing a full contact sport, I decided to go out for the team. I played for 3 seasons with the Surge and we won the 2012 WFA national championship. In 2013, the Surge owners took a year off and I was living on the east coast, coaching field hockey at SJU,  and decided to play for the Chicago Force. With great coaching, ownership, and team chemistry, the Chicago Force won the 2013 WFA national championship.

It was at that time that another USA Football player, Liz Sowers, was approached by the USA Women’s Rugby 7s coach and asked to recommend potential football crossover athletes. She had remembered playing against me during the season and suggested that the coach get in contact with me. After coming out to a rugby camp, I accepted a contract to train full-time at the Olympic training center in San Diego, CA starting in January 2014.

After three seasons of playing, traveling the world, and countless ups and downs, I was named to the 2016 USA Women’s Rugby 7s Olympic Team. We competed in 2016 Rio Olympics last summer and, although we did not win a medal, we came in 5th and made our country proud with our performance.

I am very grateful to be named to the 2017 USA Women’s Football team and hope we bring back the gold.
