Women’s Football Alliance Division 1 Game of the Week, THE biggest rivalry in all of women’s football is renewed once again, as the defending D1 National Champions Boston Renegades (2-0, 0-0 D1) take on their old foes, the three-time national champions D.C. Divas (1-0, 0-0 D1) in what is sure to be an ELECTRIFYING encounter under the dome at The St. James!
All-time series: Divas lead 6-5
Points: Divas 357, Renegades 284
Last meeting: The Renegades upset the Divas 34-32 in the D1 National Conference Championship in on July 14, 2018 in Washington, winning the series and setting up their own national title win two years later.
Meeting of the year: First (They will meet again in Boston on June 15)
Thoughts on the Renegades: In their title defense season, the Renegades have left NO doubt of their status as the best in the world, defeating two D2 powers in absolutely DOMINANT fashion so far! With Allison Cahill still the legend she always is at QB, Angelica Pascual and Ruth Matta bolstering the strong run game, and Satoria Bell, Emily Beinecke and Stephanie Pascual leading the PACKED receiver corps, there’s no reason to believe the ‘Gades aren’t gonna be key favorites to make it back-to-back natties in Colorado! Of course, now is their chance to provide the ULTIMATE proof of their status as they take on their old nemeses in the nation’s capital, looking to tie the all-time series.
Thoughts on the Divas: This year, the Divas are LASER-focused on reclaiming their throne for the fourth time in team history; two weeks ago, they were playing absolute LIGHTS-OUT FOOTBALL. picking up a dominant 54-22 victory over another longtime rival of theirs, the D2 Pittsburgh Passion. Now they get set for the game they have circled in burgundy every year, the one where they get set to prove themselves as the favorites to recapture the crown at the Colorado Mines stadium this July…expect another modern-day CLASSIC here!
The big question is: Who will come out on top in what will surely be another unforgettable game and establish themselves as the favorites to win it all on July 13 in Golden, Colorado?
