The WFA, the largest, longest running, and most competitive women’s football league in the world, is pleased to announce they have begun the second phase of their WFA International Division Program. Formed in 2020, WFA International was designed to help support and develop women’s tackle football across the globe. WFA International has formed partnerships with established leagues in the Netherlands and Costa Rica as well as developing women’s programs in Columbia, Ecuador, and Egypt. The WFA will continue to expand the number of member organizations as they move to Phase II of the program.
PHASE II:
- TEAM WORLD: WFA International division will begin the formation of Team World, an international travel team consisting of players from across the globe as well as WFA players who have had citizenship in countries other than the US. The goal of Team World is to provide international players the opportunity for:
- International competition against Team United in different host countries
- Participate as player coaches in WFA International Clinics in countries developing women’s tackle football.
- Team World players will have the chance to compete in the WFA International Bowl at the Hall of Fame Village in Canton OH during Championship Weekend.
- Team World Players will have the opportunity to meet owners/coaches from WFA teams looking for international players and show their skills on the gridiron during the WFA International Bowl
- Interested Players can sign up here.
- WFA INTERNATIONAL SISTER ALLIANCE: The WFA has begun to create sister teams designed to create a partnership with WFA Teams and developing International Teams. WFA Sister Teams will mentor players and coaches of their international sister team as well as donate much needed equipment to these programs. In addition, WFA sister teams are encouraged to host or travel to their sister team program to provide camps and clinics and/or friendly games.
- WFA Teams who have started the sister team program include the Sun City Stealth is the sister team to newly developing Lady Tigers of Egypt and Cali War who formed a sisterhood with women from Santander Vikingas, (Colombia) as they are in the beginning stages of developing women’s tackle football and Bulldog Flames of Costa Rica (GWFL).
